Overview

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national-level board of education in India, established in 1929, with over 27,000 schools in India and 240 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated with it. The CBSE follows the NCERT curriculum, especially for classes 9 to 12, and is controlled and managed by the Government of India. With a current chairperson, Rahul Singh, IAS, the CBSE has undergone several amendments, including a reconstitution in 1962 to expand its services nationwide. The CBSE board exams are a crucial milestone for students, with over 2 million students appearing for the exams every year, and a pass percentage of around 90%. The exams are conducted in two main stages: the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) for class 10 and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) for class 12. The CBSE has also introduced several initiatives, such as the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system, to improve the quality of education and reduce the burden of exams on students.
